Everyday Maintenance Of The Airflow® Handy 3.0 from EMS

This guide outlines the correct procedures to help you maintain your EMS instruments to the highest standard.
Daily Maintenance for Cleaning the EMS Airflow Handy 3 Air Polisher
- Always ensure that between each patient the handpiece is replaced with a sterile handpiece.
- If you’re working with a Perio handpiece, please remove ay nozzles using the EMS PERIOFLOW Nozzle remover.
- Once removed, package the handpieces in a sterile pouch and follow appropriate sterilisation cycle recommended in the EMS manufacturer guides.
- Begin the cleaning process of your EMS Airflow® Handy 3.0 by wiping the body with an approved disinfectant wipe.
- Don’t autoclave the EMS Airflow Handy 3 body.
- After disinfecting, use a dry tissue or compressed air to remove any excess detergent left from the wipe.
- This ensures the body of the AIRFLOW is clean and ready for the next patient.
- To prevent any leaks, always check that the O-rings are in good condition.
- If any O-Rings are damaged, refer to your spare Maintenance Kit to replace the O-Rings.
- If you don’t have any O-rings on hand, send the Air Polisher into our repair centre to replace.
- Ensure to empty and clean the powder chamber on the Air Polisher.
- Remove all powder residue from both the cap and chamber.
- Check that the Cap’s O-Ring is in good condition.
- If you notice any hardended powder buildup or damaged O-Rings on the chamber cap, promptly send this to MC Repairs.

Best Practices for cleaning and maintaining Equipment:
Avoid Chemical Disinfectants: Refrain from using chemical disinfectants, abrasive cleaners, or antibacterial soaps as cleaners.
Avoid Submerging: Avoid submerging any Air Polisher, handpieces and nozzles into any type of liquid for cleaning or disinfection.
Avoid Ultrasonic Cleaners: Do not utilise ultrasonic cleaners for cleaning any equipment.
Ensure Proper Installation: Ensure all instruments are removed from your equipment prior to cleaning and lubricating
Autoclave: Don’t exceed a temperature of 138°C avoid overfilling trays as this will prevent full sterilisation.
